Quick text

Whenever a technician is resolving a fault, they will list out the steps they need to perform. These steps are often common phrases such as "Take measurements of the dimension of the damage" or "Apply a chemical conversion coating to the repair parts and to the bare surface".

Whenever a technician resolves a fault or signs for the completion of a job card, they need to write a short phrase to describe what was done. For example: "Performed inspection as per AMM 24-11-00-700-804"

In both of these situations, there is a common list of phrases that a technician will use. The Quick Text feature allows engineers to define the list of common phrases that are available to the technicians. There are several benefits to using Quick Text:

  • Selecting a Quick Text phrase is much easier and quicker for the technician. Instead of typing out a full sentence, they can quickly select the proper phrase from a Predefined Actions list.

  • The engineers can ensure that technicians use the same phrase for all tasks, ensuring consistency and avoiding common spelling/grammar mistakes.

You can set up a Quick Text phrase to include the reference type and specific reference title that was selected for a fault. You do this by including the keyword {REFERENCE} in your Quick Text phrase. For example, for your quick text phrase, you might type:

Performed inspection as per {REFERENCE}.

Then, when technicians select from the Predefined Actions list to sign for a fault or task that has a reference selected for it, Maintenix replaces the key with the actual reference type and title. Or if the technician manually types in the reference, the key is also replaced. For example:

Performed inspection as per AMM 24-11-00-700-804, where AMM is the reference type and 24-11-00-700-804 is the reference title of the reference that was selected for the fault.
