Create part numbers
You must create part numbers to identify the parts you install on assemblies, the consumables used during maintenance work, tools, kits, and top-level assemblies like the engine or the aircraft. After a part number is created, you must get it approved for general use in Maintenix.
For using an alternate part number, make sure that it is approved as an alternate in every part group to which it is added.
- Select the Part Search By Type menu item.
- On the Part Search page, click Create Part.
- On the Create Part page, in the
Part Details area, provide the required information. Note the following:
- Manufacturer: Enter the manufacturer code or UNK if unknown.
- Standard Unit of Measure: When the part is being moved, issued, installed, turned in, etc., the part must have a standard unit of measure to avoid confusion. You need to select this from the available list. The only time the standard unit of measure may not be used is when purchasing parts externally.
- Controlled Reservation: Prevents auto-reservation for the part number. When inventory is manually reserved, only the serial number or batch number specified in the reservation can be issued. Aircraft doors are an example of parts that might have controlled reservation.
- Repairable: Select this check box if this item is repairable. Repairable items are turned in after they are removed as unservicable from the aircraft or assembly.
- Prevent Auto-reservation: Part requests for the part number must be manually reserved. Expensive parts are an example of when you might prevent auto-reservation.
- ETOPS Approved: Select if the part is Extended Twin Engine Operations (ETOPS) approved.
- Scrap Rate: Set the scrap rate percentage from 0 to 100, where 0 means the part is scrapped 0% of the time, and 100 means the part is scrapped 100% of the time.
- ABC Classification: Select from the list to define how frequently the part will be stock counted.
- Auto Calculate ABC Class: Select if you use Maintenix for cycle counting. Enables automatic re-evaluation of the part's ABC classification based on system data.
- Asset / Expense Account: Enter the account that is to be charged (if any) when a repair order is created for this part. Only EXPENSE type repair accounts can be specified.
- Click OK.
- If prompted, enter your password and click OK.
- On the Part Details page, click Approve Part.
- On the Approve Part No page, provide the information requested, and click OK.
- If prompted, enter your password and click OK.
Once the part is created and approved, it can be added to a part group on a configuration slot. If there are alternate parts, you can enter them next.
