Reject part numbers and part obsolescence
When a part number reaches the end of its service life—for example, if the use of newer parts that fulfill the same function becomes mandatory, or if your organization rejects the part for any other reason—the status of the old part number is changed to obsolete. This status restricts the use of the part number in Maintenix work flows, with the aim of eventually removing all inventory that is based on the part from service. Obsolete part numbers can be re-approved for use, and become active again.
- On the Part Group Search page, enter the appropriate search criteria and click Search.
- On the Part Groups Found tab, click the part number.
- On the Part Details page, click Reject Part.
- On the Reject Part Number page, provide the information requested, and click OK.
- If prompted, enter your password and click OK.
Once a part number is rejected, it cannot be inspected as serviceable, and therefore it cannot be issued or installed. However, parts that were installed before the part number became obsolete remain serviceable until they are removed.
