Add information to tasks when engineering assistance requested

After reviewing tasks or non-routines for which technicians requested engineering assistance, you add information to the task that will help the technician to complete the work. For example, you might want to add labor and part requirements, instructions to perform the task, attach a document, and so on.

  1. On the Task Details page, Task Execution tab, do one or more of the following:

    Add a labor requirement In the Labor area, click Add Labor Requirement .

    On the Add Labor Requirement page, provide the requested information and click OK.

    Edit a labor requirement In the Labor area, click Edit Labor Requirements .
    On the Edit Labor Requirements page, for each labor skill:
    • If certification or inspection are required, under the Certification or Independent Inspection column, select the Required check box, and enter a number of hours.
    • If certification or inspection are not required, under the Certification or Independent Inspection column, clear the Required check box.
    Add a part requirement In the Part Requirements area, click Add Part Requirement .

    On the Add Part Requirement page, enter your search criteria and click Search.

    From the search results, select a part, and edit the content of the available fields as required.

    Tip: For repairable parts installed on the asset, and that will be removed, sent for repair, and either reinstalled after repair or replaced by another part, select both the RM and IN check boxes in the part requirement. Maintenix will automatically create a repair order for the removed part as soon as the removal is complete.
    Click Assign Selected Parts to Task.
    Add a tool requirement In the Tool Requirements area, click Add Tool Requirement .

    On the Add Tool Requirement page, enter your search criteria and click Search.

    From the search results, select one or more tools.

    In the Sched. Hours column, enter the number of hours the tool will be used.

    Click Assign Selected Tools to Task.

    Add a measurement to record during execution In the Measurements area, click Add Measurement .

    On the Add Measurements page, select one or more measurements and click OK.

    Added measurements are displayed below measurements that are already listed.

    Add or remove task card steps In the Steps area, click Add Step to add a step or to remove a step.

    On the Add Step page, enter a description of the step the technician must take and click OK.

  2. To add instructions to the task or fault, do the following:
    1. On the Task Details page, Task Information tab, Instructions area, click Edit Instructions .
    2. On the Edit Instructions page, enter instructions for technicians to follow to resolve the task or fault, and click OK.
  3. To identify the aircraft zone(s), do the following:
    1. On the Task Details page, Task Information tab, Zones area, click Add Zone .
    2. On the Add Zone page, select one or more zones and click OK.
  4. To identify the aircraft panel(s), do the following:
    1. On the Task Details page, click the Task Information tab.
    2. In the Panels area, click Add Panel .
    3. On the Select Panel page, search for the panel.
    4. Select one or more panels. Click OK.
  5. To add a technical reference, do the following:
    1. On the Task Details page, Task Information tab, Technical References section, click Add Technical Reference .
    2. On the Add Technical Reference page, in the Name field, enter a name.
    3. In the Link field, enter a reference number or Web address for the document.
    4. Complete the remaining fields as required, and click OK.
  6. To attach a file, do the following:
    1. On the Task Details page, Task Information tab, Attachments area, click Add Attachment .
    2. On the Add Attachment page, in the Attachment area, drag and drop the file or click to select the file on your computer.
    3. Enter the requested information and click OK, or to add another attachment, click OK and Repeat.
Sign off the task or non-routine to indicate you have finished providing information.
