As you work on a task, you might need to request tools that
were not specified as requirements in the task. To request tools for a task that is in work,
or soon to be in work, you can add one or more tool requirements to the task. Also, you can select
specific tool inventory items and assign them to the tool requirements. You can do these two steps together using the Barcode Add Tool Requirement button.
- The task is active or in work.
- Do one of the following:
- In the Barcode Search field, scan or
enter the barcode of the task, and press Enter.
- On the Task Search page, enter your
search criteria, and click Search.
- On your to-do list, My Tasks tab, select the check
box of the task.
- To add a tool requirement to a task or fault using
the Barcode Add Tool Requirement button:
- Go
to the Task Details or Fault Details page, Task Execution tab, Tool Requirements area, and click Barcode Add Tool Requirement.
- On
the Barcode Add
Tool Requirement page,
in the Barcode field, scan or enter the barcode of the tool and click Search.
- Select the tool.
- (Optional) In
the Sched. Hours column, enter the number of
hours the tool will be used.
- Click
Assign Selected Tools to
Task.
The barcode inventory is assigned to the newly created tool requirement.
- To
add a tool requirement to a task or fault using the part group or part number:
- Go to
the Task Details or Fault
Details page, Task
Execution tab, Tool
Requirements area, and click Add Tool Requirement
.
- On the Add Tool Requirement page, enter your search criteria and click
Search.
- From the search results, select one or more tools.
- (Optional) In the Sched. Hours column, enter the number of hours the tool will be used.
- Click Assign Selected Tools to Task.
The tool requirement is added.
- To assign tool inventory to a tool requirement, on the
Task Details or Fault
Details page, click the Task
Execution tab.
- In the Tool Requirements area, select the tool requirement check box, and
then click Assign Tool
.
- On the Inventory Search page, find the tool to assign by doing one or more
of the following:
- In the Inventory Found list, select the tool, and click Assign Inventory.
The serial number of the tool is shown in the Tool
Requirements area of the Task Execution tab.
