Warranty evaluation

When a part is removed from an aircraft, or a task in a work package is completed, the parts and labor used are evaluated for warranty eligibility. Warranty evaluation can take place automatically or manually.

Automatic warranty evaluation occurs when a work package is committed, and when a work package is completed. During automatic evaluation, Maintenix evaluates the warranty eligibility of tasks, parts, and labor in completed work packages and return shipments.

You can manually evaluate warranties if the work package is active or in work. When you evaluate a warranty manually, it is added to the evaluation queue, and runs after previous automatic or manual evaluations are complete.

To evaluate warranty coverage, warranties must be initialized against specific inventory or tasks.

During warranty evaluation:

  • Initialized assembly warranties are evaluated for all tasks (part requirements and labor) on the aircraft or on any sub-inventory.
  • Initialized assembly warranties on a component work package are evaluated for tasks (part requirements and labor) needed for the repair of an engine or other major assembly.
  • Initialized component warranties on a component work package are evaluated for labor and materials used for the repair of the component.
  • Initialized task warranties are evaluated for all parts and labor on a task (service bulletins and exchange orders) or its sub-tasks.
