Repair routing

Inventory that is unserviceable or that must be routed to a shop for assembly is listed on the Unserviceable Staging tab. The unserviceable staging clerk or repair router reviews what needs to be done and decides where to route components for the appropriate action.

Inventory that appears on the Unserviceable staging tab is typically in REPREQ condition. These items were inspected as unserviceable upon receipt, removed during a maintenance visit and turned in, or marked as Repair Required.

If Ready for Build is enabled, the list also displays inventory in RFB condition. These items are serviceable, but incomplete and need to be routed to the appropriate shop for assembly, completion, or dressing.

You can filter the items that are shown on the list to find and work with specific types of items. See Customize your view of the Unserviceable Staging tab.

On the Unserviceable Staging tab, you can review what shop or vendor locations are assigned or are capable of repairing or doing the required work. You can take the following actions to deal with the items on your list:
Route components for internal repair
  1. Create a work package for the component. See Create work packages for an aircraft or component.
  2. Schedule the work package to an internal shop location. See Schedule work packages to internal maintenance locations
  3. Optionally, when the component is physically moved to the shop, you can click the Move to Shop button. This changes the inventory location and removes the component from the Unserviceable Staging tab.
  4. When the work package is started the component appears on your Out For Repair tab.
Route components for external repair
  1. Create a repair order for the component. See Create a repair order for unserviceable inventory. This creates an outbound shipment. See Repair orders. After the shipping clerk sends the shipment, the component appears on the Out For Repair tab.
  2. If you are handing over responsibility for the order to a repair purchasing agent, edit the RO Details to change the name of the Purchasing Contact.
  3. Request authorization for the repair order. Request order authorization.
  4. Issue the order. An inbound shipment is automatically created. See Issue orders.
Create an exchange order with an external vendor
Exchange an unserviceable component for a serviceable one. See Create exchange orders for unserviceable components. Alternatively you can convert a repair order line to an exchange order line. See Convert repair order line to exchange order line.
Condemn inventory
If as part of your work, you determine that unserviceable inventory cannot be repaired or exchanged for serviceable inventory, or that the repair is too costly, you can condemn it. It is then moved to the Condemned tab. See Condemn inventory.
Quarantine inventory
If you determine that inventory could be returned to service pending an action that's not repair-related, you can quarantine the inventory. It is then moved to the quarantine location and tab. See Quarantine inventory.
You can monitor items on your To Do List's, Unserviceable Staging, Out For Repair, Condemned, Quarantine, and My Open Orders tabs.
Tip: The Out For Repair tab lists INREP condition components that are out of the warehouse for repair.
