Check in tools

When checked out tools are returned from the maintenance floor to the tool crib by technicians or runners, you check them in.

If you use a programmed scanner, the cursor automatically moves from these fields to the next field in this order:
  • User
  • Tool Barcode
  • OK
If you enter information manually, you can still speed up check-in by pressing Enter on your keyboard to move the cursor.
  1. On your to-do list, Checked Out Tools tab, click Check In Tool.
  2. On the Check In page, scan or enter the User name of technician that is returning the tool.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • Scan or enter the Tool Barcode.
    • Enter the part number and serial number of the tool.
    • Click search to find and assign a tool.
  4. Optional: Add a note with information that future users of the tool or tool crib clerks need to know, such as the condition of the tool.
  5. Do one of the following:
    • To check in more tools for the same user, click OK and Repeat.
    • If you are done for this user, click OK.
    Tip: To speed up the process:
    • Instead of using the mouse to click OK, you can press Enter on your keyboard.
    • Instead of using the mouse to click OK and Repeat, you can press Tab then Enter on your keyboard.
  6. If prompted for a password, ask the technician to enter their password.
