Installations and removals
As tasks are performed to install and remove components, technicians, or technical records roles, record information in Maintenix. The information that you enter during work capture triggers checks against the configuration rules, updates technical records, and passes information to materials management and planning processes.
Here are a few notes on differences between installs and removals for different classes
of inventory:
- Assemblies and tracked components are installed into "holes" in the configuration slot hierarchy of the parent. Although serialized inventory is installed, the location on the parent or aircraft is not recorded. Therefore, history notes of the the configuration change - installation or removal - are only recorded in the technical records of assemblies and tracked components.
- Tasks include part requirements to install and remove batch inventory, but batch-controlled inventory isn't tracked after it's issued - there's no inventory record for the individual batch component that was installed or removed. However, batch parts can be marked as repairable. In this case, when a repairable batch component is removed, Maintenix automatically creates new inventory with a unique batch number and issues the inventory. The removal reason determines the condition of the new inventory and it is routed accordingly. For example, a component in REPREQ condition is routed to unserviceable staging.
Removal reason
When you remove a component and specify the removal reason, this
determines the inventory condition and dictates the future of the removed item. For
example, removed items can be repaired, overhauled, scrapped, sold, or stored for
reinstallation at a later date. The list of removal reasons that you see in work
capture is configured by your organization, but out-of-the box, Maintenix includes
the following removal reasons and correlated inventory conditions:
Removal reason | Inventory condition |
---|---|
Access - removed for access | RFI |
Unsched - unscheduled removal | REPREQ |
Rob - rob serviceable component | RFI |
Vendret - return to vendor | RFI |
Stagger - removed serviceable component for stagger | RFI |
Imschd - unscheduled failure | REPREQ |
