Add incompatible part restrictions

Part incompatibility is a restriction that prohibits the installation of a specified part onto an assembly if another part is installed, even though both parts are valid parts. You can create global type or assembly position type part incompatibilities.

Examples of how you use the global and assembly type part incompatibilities: An aircraft could have either Pratt and Whitney or Rolls Royce engines installed, but it can't have one of each. To ensure an aircraft has all the same engines installed, you create global type incompatibility rules. You can use the Assembly position type to ensure that parts on an engine are compatible, while allowing multiple engines installed on an aircraft to have different (alternate) parts installed.

  1. On the Part Group Search page, enter the appropriate search criteria and click Search.
  2. On the Part Groups Found tab, Part Group column, click the part group.
  3. On the Part Group Details page, click the Incompatibility tab.
  4. In the Part Incompatibility area, select the part.
  5. Click the Add Part Incompatibility button.
  6. On the Select Incompatible Part page, provide search criteria and click Search.
  7. Select a part and click Assign Part.
  8. On the Add Part Incompatibility page, select the Incompatibility Scope and click OK.
Note: You cannot create Assembly Position type incompatibilities using aircraft part groups.
Tip: To remove an incompatible part restriction, do the following: Click Remove Part Incompatibility , then click Yes.
