Consignment orders

Rather than purchasing spare parts and storing them in your warehouse until they are needed, you can arrange with a vendor to have a number of vendor-owned parts at your warehouse so that you can purchase them as they are used. This is known as consignment. Use a consignment order to obtain or replenish consignment inventory. If the consignment inventory is a non-repairable part, you purchase the part once it is issued using a purchase order. If the consignment inventory is a repairable part, you can exchange the broken part for a serviceable part using a consignment exchange order.

You can create a consignment order in two ways: by fulfilling a consignment stock request to replenish low stocks of consignment inventory, or by creating an ad hoc consignment order without having a request. When you create the order from a request, much of the information in the order is pre-populated according to the request.

You can create consignment orders for consumable consignment inventory from consignment stock requests. You can also create ad hoc consignment orders for initial provisioning of rotable consignment stock.
