Assign warranties to inventory

You can assign warranties to not-yet-received inventory when you create purchase, repair, or exchange orders.

You cannot assign warranty contracts to inventory ordered through borrow and consignment orders, because items received for these orders are still owned by the vendor or the supply organization.

The assigned warranty is initialized when the inventory is received and inspected.

  1. Go to the Order Search page, enter your search criteria and click Search.
    Tip: Search for orders that have an Order Type of either Purchase, Repair or Exchange and an Order Status of either Issued or Partial.
  2. Click the link for the order.
  3. On the order details page, Order Lines tab, select an order line and click Assign Warranty.
  4. On the Warranty Contract Search page, enter your search criteria and click Search.
  5. From the search results, select a warranty and click Assign Warranty Contract.
