Manual reservations
Part requests that are not fulfilled by auto-reservation, are manually fulfilled.
In addition to filling the requests that Maintenix does not or cannot fill, you
might manually reserve inventory for the following reasons:
- Auto-reservation reserved inventory for the part request, but you identified a more suitable part.
- There is no inventory available in stock to fill the part request, but inventory has been reserved for a lower priority part request. If you have the permissions, you can reassign the reserved inventory to fill the higher priority part request. This is called stealing inventory. When you do this, Maintenix changes the status of the lower priority part request to Open, and sends an alert to the owner of the lower priority part request.
- Parts that are ordered but not received are considered part of stock, and you can reserve them to fulfill a part request.
- Assembly or tracked class inventory is in Ready for Build (RFB) condition and requires additional dressing or work in a shop. Inventory in RFB condition cannot be auto-reserved, but you can manually reserve RFB inventory.
