Steal part reservations

If inventory is not available in stock to fulfill a part request, but inventory is reserved for a lower priority part request, you can reassign the reserved inventory to the higher priority part request. This is called stealing part reservations.

When you steal a part reservation Maintenix changes the status of the lower priority part request to Open, and sends an alert to the owner of that part request.
  1. On your to-do list, Open Part Requests tab, select a part and click Reserve Local Inventory.
  2. On the Reserve Local Inventory page, review the details, paying particular attention to the following columns:
    • Part Eval: Indicates if the system considers this item to be a valid part for the request. If the item is not valid, a red icon displays. Click the icon to find out why the item is not a valid alternate.
    • Available Quantity: Indicates if the item is reserved for another part request.
    • Existing Reservation: Indicates existing reservations against the item.
  3. On the Reserve Local Inventory page, select the item and click OK.
