Run automation in the long range plan

In LRP, running automation enables you to schedule work packages based on the data in the open long range plan. When running automation, LRP orders items as follows:

  1. Aircraft with higher priorities (specified on the Fleet List) have their work packages scheduled first.
  2. When searching for maintenance locations that have the resources required for the type of work to be performed, the priorities specified in the Capabilities area of the Location Details page are used.
  3. When two work packages have the same priority, the larger work package is scheduled before the smaller one.
Note:

Read-only, locked, and ad hoc work packages are not scheduled by the run automation function.

Any work packages that could not be scheduled to a location are placed in overflow. These work packages must be manually scheduled to a location in the long range plan.

You can move scheduled work packages to another start or end date manually on the Gantt chart. You can also merge work packages within a plan.

  1. In LRP, click Actions > Run Automation.
Tip: You can also run automation by clicking Run Automation on the LRP toolbar.
  2. In the Run Automation dialog box, review the list of aircraft included in the automation.
    • From the Included Aircraft list, click the right arrow next to the aircraft you want to exclude from automation.
    • From the Excluded Aircraft list, click the left arrow next the aircraft you want to include in automation.
  3. Review the list of locations included in the automation.
    • From the Included Locations list, click the right arrow next to the location you want to exclude from automation.
    • From the Excluded Locations list, click the left arrow next to the location you want to include in automation.
  4. Select the start date for automation. LRP only schedules work packages that are within this date range.
  5. Turn Snap on or off. If Snap is turned on, you can select a Close Gap value. The Close Gap functionality is always enabled, but is only used when the Snap setting is turned on. When LRP is scheduling work packages, if a work package is close to another work package (within the gap), the work package is scheduled in a nose-to-tail fashion.
  6. Click OK.
