How To Work with Application Configuration Packages

To work effectively with Custom Objects and Application Configuration Packages, IFS R&D has recommendations regarding how to manage the creation of new Configurations and how to handle already existing configurations with the support of ACPs.

Create a new Custom Object

IFS R&D suggests the following process when creating new Custom Objects:

  1. Create the Configuration in a Test environment
  2. Test the newly created Configuration in the Test environment
  3. Add it to an ACP
  4. Export the ACP from the Test environment
  5. Import the ACP to the Production environment and publish it

Modify an existing Custom Object

When modifying an existing Configurations these steps are recommended to follow:

  1. In the Production environment, add the Configuration to an ACP (if it is not already added to one)
  2. Export the ACP
  3. Import the ACP to a Test environment
  4. Modify and test the configuration in the Test environment
  5. Export the ACP from the Test environment
  6. Import the ACP to the Production environment and publish it

Note: Exporting an ACP from one major version (e.g. IFS Applications 10) and importing that in another major version (e.g. IFS Cloud 21R1) is not supported.
