Overriding Printer Settings

The printing framework uses a 3rd party PDF printing library when printing directly to a physical printer from Aurena client or when printing to Logical Printers from Print Agent. The framework sets some common printing parameters when emitting a PDF to the physical printer through this printing library. The rest of the printing parameters are handled by the printing library which will set its own default values to these parameters. Overriding the printer settings means that you can change these default values set by the framework and the printing library using a configuration files. For Aurena client you need to configure it through the server.xml file and for Print Agent you can configure it through ifs-printing.properties file.

Some default printer settings and effects might not work as expected due to limitations in the 3rd party DataLogics PDF Printing Library and how it works with certain printer drivers. One such known issues is setting Watermarks effect through the printer settings which is not supported by the 3rd party DataLogics PDF Printing Library. As a result Watermark effects set through the physical printer settings are not printed when printing directly to a physical printer from Aurena client or when printing to Logical Printers from Print Agent.
